Managing Partner

If you have ever called our 800 number, you probably met Budi.  He insists on taking all customers' calls when in the office.  Budi (pronounced "boo-dee," not "buddy")  was born and raised in Sumatra, Indonesia.  He is the youngest of a family that includes four brothers and two sisters.  Budi grew up in abject poverty, but he had the treasure of loving parents.  His parents provided for their family by selling meals at a street kiosk.

Budi managed to go to a prestigious university in Jakarta, where he earned an accounting degree. He went on to become a director at a large, multinational Indonesian firm.  In 1997, Budi came to the U.S. with the hope of creating an American business that could provide jobs for his family in Indonesia.  Budi worked as an accountant and later became Controller for a San Francisco firm.   In 2001, Budi and resigned his position to establish this company with his partner.

Director of Java Operations

Afong (right photo) brings years of managerial experience to the team. He personally knows most of the best artisans in Bali and Java.  Over the past few years, he has been working with many of Bali's world renowned carvers to produce our own line of wood- and bone-carved ojime-inspired beads (coming soon!).  He is presently establishing a large studio for several outstanding lampwork artists in Java, who will produce lampwork beads for us in house.

Director of Bali Operations

Miming serves as the Director of our operations in Bali.  He also acts as our  lead designer for all things silver and oversees the day-to-day activities the many silversmiths and support staff who work with us our of our Bali facilities.

He has been designing and handcrafting  jewelry for more than twenty years.  Jewelry design is in Miming's blood, for this has been the family's business for generations.  He began making jewelry at the age of 10 as an after school hobby, working as an apprentice in the family's gold jewelry business.

Miming is passionate about jewelry but very flexible in his use of materials.  He marries with an artist's eye sterling silver, gold,  gemstones, wood, bone and many other materials to create distinctive treasures that are sure to delight!  For example, to the right you see a goddess pendant he designed made of a single blue topaz stone, sterling silver, and a bone cabochon.

Miming also borrows freely from the dozens of island cultures that comprise Indonesia.  The antiqued sterling pendent to the right, for instance, incorporates a traditional Borneo motif into its design.
